I am always happy to introduce a new face to our blog! Jemima Whyte is a London-based alto saxophonist, vocalist, and composer. At the end of 2025, she released her first-ever EP Joy Grows and the song "soul to soul" is a part of it.
"soul to soul" is a fresh mixture of nu-jazz, soul, and afrobeat influences. I love that it starts by giving the bassline the spotlight, which continues to be the foundation of the song until the end. Her warm vocals remind me of a sunny day in summer, and her saxophone playing complements them perfectly.
