The latest track by Kid Fiction almost feels like a space odyssey. Not just because of the ‘spacey’ music video, but the entire track has this ability to transport the listener into a different head space completely.
The amount of anticipation crafted throughout the beginning created a gorgeous moment for suspense. Whilst the majority of the instrumentation is silent, we’re comforted by Kid Fictions gentle vocals over this shimmering pad. What I also loved about ‘At the Mall’, is that it’s labeled as an Indie Pop track yet its entire feel contradicts that label. With the experimentalism and electronic textures embedded here, Kid Fiction introduced audiences to a side of Pop that we’re not unaccustomed to in a manner that is easily digestible.
