If floating on a cloud were a song, it might be this one.
Jamaican-Canadian, Vancouver-based singer Maya Jade returns to our feed after we featured the delightful "Daydreaming" in 2025. She dropped her single "Best Thing" earlier this year and I kinda regret it that I didn't find it earlier.
The song is performed with a full band and features singer Cherrykim, who makes this sound like the sonic equivalent of a love letter with his falsetto, responding to Maya's honeyed vocals. Inspired by Olivia Dean's sound, "Best Thing" blends soul, vocal jazz, and r&b, with super-rich instrumentation and a vintage, smooth feel throughout.
It might be the best thing you'll hear today, too.
