muuju has been on an impressive run of releases lately, and he continues the momentum with his deeply emotive new single, "Sul".
The French-Austrian producer draws inspiration from dream pop, downtempo electronica, and the repetitive patterns found in minimalist music. On this track however, he draws inspiration from hip hop and trip hop to form the basis of the rhythm section, bringing a head-nodding pulse. The melodic portions and the soundscapes are where "Sul" really shines. Muffled vocal samples seemlessly blend in with the warmth of the airy pads in the backdrop as the foreground is elegantly adorned with shimmering leads, leaving us with one hell of a polished, sparkling mix overall.
