Following my feature of Blood Wizard from last week, and my somewhat recent return to the more alternative days of Stereofox (2013-2016), I'm super hyped to share with you a young Bulgarian band who many people are excited about (and for a damn good reason).

This is my first feature after a week of holidays, roaming the streets of Barcelona, and I have to say - scarlet's careless melancholia makes a great soundtrack to the tight, shadowy streets of the Catalan city. The 5-piece is part of the Samodiva Society collective, who hosted a showcase in my hometown, Plovdiv, a few weeks ago, giving me the chance to experience them live. I first came across them last year when they released their debut, but beyond the live energy, what truly deepened my appreciation for their sound is their brand-new single, "Пумпал", Bulgarian for spinning top. There's something inspiring about seeing the youth creating such electrifying and refined sound. What I love the most about these guys is the way they bottle alternative genre grooves through the prism of washed-out nostalgia.

"Пумпал" will be part of scarlet's upcoming debut album.
