Thoma continues to ramp up the anticipation for their 7th studio album, Leaving Cycles, with the 5th single, "Soft As...", a track that truly lives up to the sentiment of the title.
This release differs from the previous 4 singles the LA-based duo has put out, as it marks a moment in the album that feels slower and much more otherworldly. Even though it's adorned with the delicate presence of drums, "Soft As..." feels like an ambient piece thanks to its airy charm and dream-like soundscape facilitated by James Waterman's gamelan embellishments. Warm synths hover above while we're led into relaxation with the arrangement unfolding more like a meditation than a traditional song.
