Tonik Ensemble aka Anton Kaldal Ágústsso is an Icelandic multi-instrumentalist who as a composer discovered early that color has a strong influence on the result of his music. He recently released his debut album Snapshots and it's full of expertly-crafted, beautiful ambient and cinematic soundscapes.

With a mild synaesthesia, the gap between sound and sight fades away when songwriting resembles more the process of painting on canvas. Color theory along with other methods and terminologies of the visual, all of the sudden apply to music as well.

It’s not going to take long for you to fall in love with his quirky blend of electronic, soulful pseudo-techno vibe. It’s the kind of fresh approach that is going to have you hitting replay.

Listen to ‘Synaesthesia’ a track that brings together ambient electronics and organic live instruments into one deeply addictive piece of music.

Snapshots is available on 12″, CD and digitally via Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon and Juno.

Enjoy!
