Picture a stream of rhythmic drums and reverb-soaked guitars turning into a sea of bittersweet distortion. The dreamy soundscape blends with sedating yet somber vocals, telling a story of nostalgia, unease, and lost hopes of staying connected to loved ones.
This is Youth Valley's single "cerberus" which I have had on repeat for the past few weeks now. It is the lead single from their upcoming album As Passive Aggressive As It Gets, which is due to come out in October this year. And I feel safe to say we are as excited as we get to wait and experience the full release from the Athens-based alternative band.
Comprised of Joseph (lead vocals, guitars), Dean (drums, vocals), and George (guitars), the band blends post-punk with dreamy pop and shoegaze and excels at creating a nostalgic and very bittersweet atmosphere.
They elaborate, "This song is an honest confession of a broken person trying to find forgiveness in a journey of mistakes and cruelty caused by anger. We kept a part of this song’s creation session in the studio where we talk as we play in the final track, as a reminder that what we do in a moment is an irreplaceable experience that cannot be replaced by AI or flawless studio editing."
