This is the new EP from London-based singer/songwriter Laura Groves. After hearing the lead single/title track, it is everything I had hoped for.

The 4-track EP finds Groves speaking directly from the heart with clear and concise words. The singer explained the reasoning behind the EP title.

"It started with an article I read about the term “language isolate” – a language that has no genetic relatives – and “anti-language” which actually serves to distinguish its speakers from others and prevent outsiders from understanding. Somewhere out of that, I came up with the title, and it stuck.

It's really about feeling under pressure to give a strong, definitive answer…and feeling unable to do so. But also trying to get better at being straightforward and to the point, not oblique and cryptic when it comes to talking about feelings. It's about seeing the world very differently to somebody and trying to learn their “language".”

Simple and effortless soulful pop but with subtle differences from standard chart fodder. Give her a shot and I promise you wont be disappointed.

Committed Language is a more than impressive offering that absorbs the listener and leaves them wanting more.

I'm looking forward to an official album. If you like what you hear, make sure to check out her earlier work – there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Check out Committed Language today.

Stay up to date.
