We've been eagerly anticipating Bård Berg's newest EP, Linje 18, for quite some time now, and today this beautifully eclectic body of work is finally here.
Bård Berg stands as one of the most exciting alternative jazz artists bubbling up in Norway, especially since he blends genres such as electronica, soul, and house music into his sonic arsenal. With the help of Ultraposh and Eskild Okkenhaug, the track "Homansbyen" is among the brightest and grooviest tracks on the project. The shimmering synths are full of movement and are paired with these dreamy keys and pads that hang over the background, ultimately creating quite a lush stereofield that's alive with color. I certainly can't neglect to mention the rhythm section; its vibrant percussion section and elastic bass line tastefully ground the track and offer an organic swing.
"Each track is named after a stop along tram line 18 in Oslo, turning everyday transit into a cohesive sonic journey through my hometown. It’s about finding the extraordinary in the everyday. If my previous work established a sound of the city, this journey through line 18 provides the specific coordinates", shares Bård Berg.
