I only recently came across the concept of "stream of consciousness" in literature - the continuous flow of thoughts of a character.

Well, today we're seeing another interesting aspect of it - in hip hop. Atlanta-based rapper KeepitSwain delivers dope bars on top of a jazzy instrumental, produced by King I Divine - "Thoughts on Thursday". He elaborates on how it happened:

One day this summer, I woke up on a Thursday and immediately started writing this long-ass verse covering everything that was running through my mind at the time. Its always a huge mental release when I just flow based on my stream of consciousness instead of sticking to a topic or mood. It reminds me of being back in school, when we used to write in journals and were usually assigned to start class by writing non-stop for 5 minutes, no matter what comes to mind. Exercises like that always pull something extra out of me when I wasn't expecting it. This time it just so happened to be a fire song. Please enjoy & follow your muse.
