Lee DeWyze's song writing supplies us with a distinctive kind of nostalgia and I believe it's due to his ability to be very relateable with his story telling

The splash of reverb attached to his vocals creates a warm effect on his voice, making the vocals sound extremely comforting. Especially when there are vocal harmonies layered. Every now and then, subtle strings appear which add so much depth to the track. The lyrics are already moving and have the potential to take us back to moments of our lives, when everything comes together it's clear that "Castles" is a piece of art that's very easy to connect too.
