It's time to revive our downtempo / trip-hop playlist and enter an era that feels both sexy and melancholic.

Meet Naarm/Melbourne-based artist, Now Always Fades. Today's spotlight falls on his track "Faceless Angel", which I added to our New Music Finds playlist a few months ago, but never had the chance to feature on the website. Today, we're fixing that mistake, because this blend of trip-hop, downtempo, and indietronica is about as superb as it gets in 2026. In true genre-revival fashion, the artist adds a fresh, modern flair to these classic sounds. You might catch a hint of 2000s inspiration, but "Faceless Angel" ultimately sounds like something entirely new.

I remember the first time I heard the song, I instantly thought of one of my favourite underground finds - sunjunkie's two decades album.

Now Always Fades is gearing up for his upcoming album, Coalesce, scheduled for release on September 18th via Northern Underground Records. The record is a follow-up to his 2025 debut, Into The Doldrums, and yes, it's on our upcoming albums of 2026 list.
