As of January 2020, Amazon Music had over 55 million users (they haven't provided an updated number yet to date), and in March 2021 they announced they are making their lossless music feature - Amazon Music HD, available for free to all Amazon Music Unlimited users. Other perks are discounted subscription rates for Amazon Prime members, flawless Alexa integration, and much, much more.

Now, Amazon Music Unlimited features over 70 million songs, crafted in hundreds of curated playlists and stations - mood, theme, or genre-based.

Difference Between a Playlist and a Station

You might have noticed that there are playlists and stations with the same name. They often include similar songs but whereas the playlist is handpicked, with a set number of songs in a particular order, the station plays indefinitely - and you can "teach" it what you like by giving a thumbs up or down on each track. The power of machine learning!

There's a playlist type that stands out in Amazon Music's catalog - [RE]DISCOVER. As Amazon themselves said in a press release in mid-2020, Rediscover is “a new brand initiative developed to globally support artist catalogs across all music genres,” and it “takes listeners on a career-spanning journey of musical discovery, or re-discovery, through the featured artist’s entire body of work.”

This description really made me laugh out loud. Aside from the obvious sense of humor, the Amazon Music editors have also got impeccable taste in indie electronica - they've put together amazing acts like Sam Gellaitry, IHF, Hot Chip, Argonaut & Wasp, Yung Bae & so many more danceable gems.
