Balkan Bump is the break-out musical project of a trumpet player turned producer Will Magid. Not only has he joined some of the greats, like Pretty Lights and Beats Antiuqe, on stage, but has also crafted a mission in studying musical evolution. Holding a degree in Ethnomusicalogy, the study of music from the view of cultures, he leverages his knowledge by intertwining unique sounds together in his own music.
Supported by Lowtemp Music, an independent label with a mission to funk up the distribution of music, Balkan Bump shows the world the compatibility between eras with "Irfan". Following his smash hit collaboration with Gramatik and Talib Kweli entitled "Aymo", Magid is back to break further ground into the foundation of new-era electronic-acoustic productions.
Having dabbled in sample-based hip hop in his premiere EP Alligator Spacewalk, Magid takes rhythmical melodies of the Balkan sound and throws them into half-time using trailing bass kicks to effectively give it that "bump" he's becoming known for.
