Our #labelweek goes full on! Next on the menu we've prepared interview with one of Switzerland's most talented young producers nowadays - Sebastian Carter.

If you've been around for some time you should remember Ivo's 2 features of his remixes. But let's cut to the chase - I hope you enjoy what's below!

Can you introduce yourself for those who don't know you? When did you start making music? What urged you to become an artist?

Sebastian Carter: My name is Sebastian Carter and I am a soon to be 21 year old producer, DJ and musician from Switzerland. I started producing music in Fall 2012, experimenting with my at that time newly purchased drum machine. I've been surrounded by music my entire life. I started playing African and Asian percussion at the age of 5 years old, learned the drums with 11 years old. For me music has always been and always will be the focal point of my life. Being a musical artist, whether it was as a drummer or as a producer/DJ has always been my main desire.

How would you describe your music?

Sebastian: My music draws inspiration from a variety of electronic sub genres, Pop and Indie Rock/Pop. It's beautiful, melodic, emotional and chilled out but can also get pretty heavy. The main part of my music could be classified as Deep House, but I generally don't get too caught up in the entitlement of genres.

You come from a small town in Switzerland and has moved to Brighton, UK - a city partly known for its night life. Is your environment influences your music?

SebastianMoving to Brighton has certainly influenced the way I preceive electronic dance music as a whole. I got introduced to a lot more UK House, Techno and the club culture in the UK. The people have influenced me the most. I've learned so much stuff about production and electronic music in general from newly gained friends in the UK. In the end my music sounds the same whether I'm producing it in Switzerland or in Brighton, but Brighton has definitely influenced me, in a good way.

How and why did you decide to collaborate with Crosswalk Records?

SebastianI've heard of the label a couple times, as on of their first releases got a lot of attention in my environment. I also really enjoy their artwork. As they approached me for a release I felt a positive vibe going on and the decision was pretty easy.

You have started music by playing the percussions at an early age. Does this experience orientates your choice in the gear you use to compose or play with?

SebastianYes for sure. My musical background in the percussive area has inspired me to use hands-on drum machines and play my rhythm parts myself as opposed to using loops.

What are your upcoming plans?

SebastianI am currently working on a couple remixes that should be out sometime this summer. Else than that I'm focusing a lot more on originals.
